Sortcerer

License Terms

Last updated October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Arkley Interactive LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) for Sortcerer, our Mac app (the “App”). By installing or using the App you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.

1. The Free Version and the License

The App can be used for free, with up to 5 rules and without some features (Start from a file, rule groups, and pausing a folder). A paid license (the “License”) removes those limits for the major version you bought. For example, a License for Sortcerer 1 covers every 1.x release.

2. What a License Lets You Do

A License is personal to you (or, if you bought it for a business, to that business). It lets you install and use the App, with all features unlocked, on up to 3 Macs that you own or control at the same time, for personal or business use. To use it on a different Mac, deactivate one of the others first (in the App, Help → License Info… → Deactivate this Mac). The License is a one-time purchase; there are no subscription fees. If a Mac is wiped, rendered inaccessible, or decommissioned without manual deactivation, you can request a seat reset by contacting support at sortcerer_support@arkleyinteractive.com.

The Household License lets up to 5 people who live in the same household use the App, with all features unlocked, on up to 15 Macs that they own or control at the same time, under one shared license key. The Household License is subject to every other term that applies to a License, and the Macs must belong to members of that household.

3. What You May Not Do

  • Copy, share, sell, rent, or publish the App’s License key, or use one License beyond the number of Macs it allows.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or take apart the App, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
  • Remove, bypass, or tamper with the App’s license checks or limits.
  • Use the App to do anything unlawful.

4. Updates and Future Versions

Updates within the major version you bought are included at no charge. We may release a new major version as a new paid product, and we’ll say so clearly before you buy it. Your License keeps working for the version it covers, but we may stop updating older major versions. Opening a newer major version with an older License runs it in the free mode.

5. Your Files and Your Rules

Sortcerer renames, moves, and, if you choose, replaces files on your Mac according to rules that you write. You are responsible for your rules and for keeping backups of anything important. Use the App’s test feature to check a rule before you rely on it. Replaced files go to the Trash, but we can’t promise a file can always be recovered.

If you configure the App to run custom scripts, commands, Shortcuts, or third-party executables, you are solely responsible for the code executed and any actions taken by those external tools.

Sample rules, templates, or recipes provided on our site or within the App are for illustrative purposes only. You are responsible for testing and verifying any imported or pre-made rule in your environment before enabling it on live files.

6. Refunds

If Sortcerer isn’t right for you, email sortcerer_support@arkleyinteractive.com within 10 days of your purchase, from the address you bought with, and we’ll refund the full price. The refund is paid back to your original payment method through our payment provider and the License is deactivated. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank; we’ll respond quickly.

7. Payments and Taxes

Purchases are sold and processed by Polar, our payment provider and seller of record. Polar collects any sales tax or VAT that applies. Polar’s own terms apply to the transaction itself.

8. Ending a License

You can stop using the App at any time. We may end a License, after telling you where we reasonably can, if it was refunded or charged back, shared publicly, used beyond its limits, or obtained by fraud.

9. No Warranty

We work hard to make Sortcerer reliable, but the App is provided “as is,” without any promise that it will meet your needs or run without errors, to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing here removes rights you have under the law that can’t be waived.

10. Limit of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost, misplaced, moved, renamed, replaced, overwritten, or deleted files or data, including any result of a rule you created, imported, or enabled, whether or not the result was what you intended. We are also not liable for lost profits or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the License (for the free version, nothing). Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Arkley Interactive LLC against any third-party claims, liabilities, or damages arising out of your rules, your use of the App, or your violation of these terms.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms for future releases. The date above shows when they last changed. Changes don’t reduce what you paid for: a License you bought keeps the terms it was sold under for the version it covers.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to choice-of-law principles. Any disputes relating to these terms or the App will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of Texas.
